Spyros Konidaris was born in Lefkada, Greece. It was here that he started his musical studies with Dionisios Grapsas at the “Hellenic Conservatory of Music & Arts”.

He continued his studies at the “National Conservatory” in Athens under the tutelage of Prof. Evangelos Boudounis with whom he later completed his bachelor’s studies, for which he received a unanimous grade of excellence, first prize and commendation for outstanding performance.

He studied a second bachelor’s degree in Madrid, Spain, at the “Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid” under the professorship of Prof. Gabriel Estarellas, graduating four years later with full marks and honors.

He has also studied with Prof. Ricardo Gallén at the “Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt” in Weimar, Germany, where he obtained his master’s degree with specialization in chamber music with full marks and distinction.

Additionally, he has participated in numerous international masterclasses with such luminaries as Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia, Carlo Marchione, Álvaro Pierri, Odair Assad, Roland Dyens, Joaquín Clerch, Thomas Müller Pering, Hubert Käppel, Elena Papandreou, Costas Cotsiolis, Marco Socías, Marcin Dylla, Margarita Escarpa, Judicaël Perroy and Thomas Offermann.

He has also been awarded or placed highly in several national and international guitar competitions, including the “Dimotiko Odeio Patras” in Greece, “Twents Gitaarfestival” in Holland and “Festival de Guitarra Ciudat d’Elx” in Spain.

Spyros Konidaris has toured as a soloist in various countries throughout Europe such as Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Germany, Estonia and Holland.

Besides his solo performing career, Spyros is a passionate chamber musician and he is fond of playing in different formations, including duos of guitar and violin, cello, piano, flute, oboe, voice, as well as guitar duo, trio and quartet.

His repertoire encompasses a wide range of styles and epochs from Dowland, Bach, Paganini to Albéniz, Piazzolla and Ginastera among others.

Spyros Konidaris plays a 1973 José Ramírez handmade guitar and he currently resides in Weimar, Germany, where he combines his pedagogical and his artistic careers.
